FAQ

What are the system requirements for installation?
FileBucket consists of a windows application and an optional Microsoft Outlook plugin. It will work on both 32bit and 64bit operating systems with .net 4 installed. If you would like to take full advantage of the product you will also require Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013 & Outlook 2016 (32bit or 64bit).

Where do I find FileBucket after installing the software?
By running the microsoft installer file provided, both the FileBucket plugin for Microsoft Outlook and the standard taskbar program are installed. You will find the FileBucket Outlook plugin when you create a ‘New Email’. You can start the FileBucket application from the program menu or by starting Microsoft Outlook. Once started the application runs in the taskbar (look for the orange bucket icon).

I get an error when attaching files in Outlook – The attachment size exceeds the allowable limit.
Please use the FileBucket ‘Add File’ Icon instead of dragging them into a new email. Outlook limits how many attachments you can add which is why it is necessary to make use of the FileBucket plugin. Please refer to the following article explaining why you receive this message (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2222370). If you are using Microsoft Exchange it is possible to increase these local limits but it will be necessary to ask your IT administrator to increase the allowed attachment size. You may still choose /opt to use FileBucket with some or all of your attachments. You might need to explain to him the benefits of FileBucket.

What file types can I send with FileBucket?
With FileBucket it is possible to transfer any file type. This means that you are able to include executable files which are automatically flagged as suspicious by Chrome. If no executables have been included in your transmission the file will be happily downloaded by Chrome without any warnings. If executables are included you will be warned. We do not scan or restrict file types which are included in the zipped download so be sure to make your own checks as necessary. FileBucket is not liable in any way for damage caused by accessing the contents of any distribution.

When I open Outlook my FileBucket toolbar does not appear, whats wrong?
There is a chance that Outlook has disabled the FileBucket plugin.

In Outlook 2007, select the ‘Tools’ Menu and ‘Trust Center’. Next select ‘Add-ins’ and ‘Go’ near the bottom of the window (Manage Com Add-Ins should be selected). If it is disabled change the selection to ‘Disabled items first to enable the plugin. Then return to COM Add-ins to activate the plugin.

In Outlook 2010 you will need to check that a) the plugin is not disabled and b) the plugin is not inactive. This can be done by going to the ‘File’ tab, going into ‘Options’ and then ‘Add-Ins’. Select the appropriate item from the dropdown ‘Manage’ menu selection and click ‘Go’. Tick eFiler 2010 to enable / activate the plugin.

FileBucket will not install on Microsoft Click to Run versions of Office.
